Obituary of JoAnn Taylor Hughes

JoAnn Taylor Hughes, 68, wife of Gilbert Craig Hughes, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Born on February 1, 1948, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Weldon M. Taylor and the late Beila Wise Taylor. Mrs. Hughes was a member of Faithwalk Community Church. She enjoyed going to church, fishing, reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband of Georgetown; three children, Amanda Brazell Godwin (Joey) of Johnsonville, Vicky Brazell Benton (Micki) of Pawleys Island and Tammy B. Majid of Johnsonville; seven grandchildren, Danielle Blew (Michael) of Houston, TX, Katrina Donham (Erik) of Queens, NY, Brittany Benton of Boone, NC, Charity Benton of Pawleys Island, of Alexis Benton of Pawleys Island, Kennedy Majid of Houston, TX and Savannah-Rose Waugh of Johnsonville; one sister, Irene Todd of Georgetown; one brother, Marvin Taylor (Darlene) of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Preston Benton; two brothers, Allen Taylor and Donnie Taylor; and one sister, Helen Harrell. Funeral Service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Faithwalk Community Church with Pastor Van Moree officiating. Burial will follow in Taylor Memorial Cemetery.
