Obituary of Daniel Thomas Owens

Daniel Thomas “D.T.” Owens, widower of Marjorie Anthony Owens, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Blue Ridge of Georgetown. Born on June 2, 1929, in Georgetown County, he was a son of the late Grady L. Owens and the late Ella Ruth Avant Owens. Mr. Owens was a US Marine veteran and a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. He retired from International Paper Company after 43 years of service and enjoyed fishing and camping. Survivors include two children, Sandra Smith (Myron) and Marcia Goings (Linwood) all of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Joshua West, Jason West (Carrie) and Michelle Goings all of Georgetown; two great grandchildren, Summer Goings and Savannah Ard both of Georgetown; one sister, Fleetie Cribb of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde Jennings “Jenks” West; and a grandson, Myron Smith, Jr. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Ridgeway Funeral Home with Rev.
