Obituary of Ronnie Vardell Player

Ronnie Vardell Player, 73, beloved husband of Carolyn Kellahan Player, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at his home. Born on May 28, 1950, in Lake City, he was a son of the late Roy Vardell Player and the late Mildred Elizabeth McDaniel Player. After 49 years of service, Mr. Player retired from Georgetown Steel. During his nearly half-century career, he left a legacy of commitment and excellence. Outside of work, Mr. Player found joy in fishing, and had a passion for restoring classic cars. Survivors include his wife of Andrews; two children, Bradley Player of Andrews and Kella Player Hanna (Wells) of Kingstree; three grandchildren, Reeves Player, Matthew Player and Estelle Hanna; three sisters, Wanda Boyd of Kingstree, Ann Bouchette (Tommy) of Johnsonville and Candi Garofalo (Bill) of Myrtle Beach; one brother, Glenn Player (Wanda) of Florence; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Player; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Boyd. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Friday, May 17, 2024, in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
