Obituary of Ambrose Jackson Williams
Ambrose Jackson “Jack” Williams, Jr, 84, husband of Mavis Cox Williams, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Conway Medical Center.
Born on March 31, 1932, in Georgetown County, he was a son of the late Ambrose Jackson Williams, Sr. and the late Mary Ella Cribb Williams Langdale. Mr. Williams was a member of Ringel Heights Baptist Church and the Bible Sunday School class. He served in the SC National Guard and retired from International Paper Mill after more than 30 years of service. Mr. Williams enjoyed gardening, working with flowers, wood working, decorating for Christmas and most of all spending time with his children, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two children, Annette Williams and Dr. Susan Goodrich (Myron) all of NC; one step child, Tammy Rochelle (Rocky) of NC; three step grandchildren, Angela Gray (Jeff) of Georgetown, Lori Leugers of Georgetown and Brian Ackerman (Tammy) of Georgetown; one special step grandchild, Holly Britt (Timmy) of Georgetown; four step great grandchildren, Carly Gray, Jaxon Gray, Aubrey Jones and Brantleigh Ackerman; three sisters, Nolie Morris of Wilmington, NC, Mary Sue Sessions of Georgetown and Cornelia Hardwick of Georgetown; one brother, Francis Marion “Frank” Williams (Mildred) of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two step children, Ricky Ackerman and Micky Ackerman; one sister, Florence Frances Williams; three brothers in law, Hamer Morris, Clifton Sessions and Bill Hardwick.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM Monday, June 20, 2016 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Johnson and Rev. Chris Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
