Obituary of Dr. Florence Susan Schenker

Dr. Florence Susan Schenker, age 77, passed away on October 23, 2023, in Georgetown, South Carolina. Born August 14, 1946, in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the eldest daughter of the late Dr. Israel Schenker and Muriel Schenker. Dr. Florence Schenker earned her Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and her medical degree from the University of Bologna, in Bologna, Italy. She was a Board-Certified emergency room physician, practicing in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and South Carolina. During her career she also practiced with several humanitarian organizations in the African countries of Uganda, Kenya, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Chad. Dr. Schenker was an avid animal lover and, along with many pets, successfully showed championship horses and dogs throughout her life. She is survived by three siblings, Betsy Ann Balcer (Joseph) of Cary, North Carolina, Natalie Joan Solomon (Howard) of Delray Beach, Florida, and Nathan Mayer Schenker (Shirley) of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. In addition to her siblings, she is also survived by seven nieces and nephews, and five great nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial ceremony on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at The Ridgeway Funeral Home, 2918 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, South Carolina. The interment will be in a private ceremony at King Solomon Memorial Park in Clifton, New Jersey.
