Obituary of Ted Altman
David McNeil "Ted" Altman, Sr., 80, widow of Frances Diana Altman, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at his home.
Born on April 6, 1943, in Georgetown County, he was the son of the late Claude Frasier Altman and the late Rita Casselman Altman. Mr. Altman was a founding member of Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church and was a former deputy sheriff for the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Department.
Mr. Altman, and his beloved wife, took great pride in working in their yard. They found solace in contentment in spending time together whether they were planting flowers, vegetables or raking pine straw. Mr. Altman was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Above all else, Mr. Altman’s greatest happiness came from spending time with his beloved family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include one son, David M. Altman, Jr. (Tammy) of Pawleys Island; three grandchildren, Kendall Hughes (Tre) of Georgetown, David M. "Trey" Altman, III (Morgan) of Georgetown and Ashley Altman (Alex Hester) of Ninety-Six; three great-grandchildren, Paisley Altman, Laikyn Porter, and Wrenleigh Altman; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Lewis of Murrells Inlet and Jeannie Wollman (Alan) of Charleston; and numerous other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Frances Diana Altman.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 22, 2023, in the Pawleys Island Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at The Lakes at Litchfield and Tidelands Community Hospice, for the loving care they provided to Mr. Altman.
