Obituary of Geri Faris
Geraldine (Geri) Tackett Faris was reunited in Heaven with her husband and lifelong love, Leon W. Faris, of Pawley’s Island, on June 15, 2023.
Born in Lexington, KY to Cora and Earl Tackett, Jr. on June 13, 1946. She began her career as a Civil Servant for the Bluegrass Army Depot and then moved to the Veteran’s Hospital. Upon relocating to Pawley’s Island, she embarked on upon her 35-year long career with the United State Postal Service. She retired as the Postmaster of Nesmith, SC.
Throughout her career, she received numerous awards including recognition for her contributions to the design and installation of the USPS computer program still in use today. Geri also volunteered her services to Midway Fire Department, serving on the Board of Directors, as well as Commissioner.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Patricia Taylor, and her son Bill Faris (Jackie).
She is survived by her sister, Sandra Smith (Mitchell), her four daughters, Margrace Faris (Joey), Candace Boston, Lorraine Broadway (Kevin), and Becky Boston, and three sons; Leon W. Faris, III (Lisa), Kelly Faris (Siby) and Bobby Faris (Vickie); ten grandchildren; Travis Watson, Laura Grace Faris, Leon Faris IV, Chad Faris, Megan Nesbitt, Patrick McKenzie, Justin McKenzie, Kelsie Pennington, Faris Broadway and Stone Broadway, II. She was blessed with eleven great grandchildren…Hank, Jack, Cam, Lewis, Kayden, Cooper, Armor-Marie, Amanda, Kade, Kennedy and Elizabeth. Over the years, her family grew to include numerous nieces, nephews and close family friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Georgetown, SC on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 6:00 pm.
The family will have a private scattering of ashes at a later date.
