Obituary of Verline Jenkins Tomlin Tyson

Verline Jenkins Tomlin Tyson, 96, widow of Frank Jenion “Bo” Tyson, Jr., passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, at National Health Care. Born on December 16, 1926, in Bastrop, LA, she was a daughter of the late Luther Alvin Jenkins and the late Sarah Velva May Williams Jenkins. Mrs. Tyson attended First Baptist Church and worked alongside her husband at Tyson Lumber Co. In her spare time, she enjoyed antiquing, working on family genealogy, reading and watching birds. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Survivors include five children, Thomas Allen Tomlin (Pam) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Frank Jenion Tyson, III of Pawleys Island, Cynthia Tyson Soles of Georgetown, Velva Tyson Ellerbe of Georgetown and Phillip Quentin Tyson (Debra) of Georgetown; 12 grandchildren, Brooks Tomlin (Tina), Meredith Thacker (David), Pamela Tomlin, Jenion Tyson (Christy), Bo Soles (Jamie), Letitia Soles (Ernie McClellan), Angel Goude (James), Tyson Ellerbe (Krystal), Alex Ellerbe (Kristina), TJ Ellerbe (Allison), Adam Tyson (Joy), Chelsea Gibson (Alfred Albers, Jr.); 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by one grandson, James Ellerbe; one sister, Vera Nahdyne Goldsby; and one brother, James Robert "Jim Bob" Jenkins. Services will be private. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 219 Cleland St. Georgetown, SC 29440 or to Saint Frances Animal Center, 125 Ridge St. Georgetown, SC 29440.
