Obituary of Charlie Faye Thompson, Sr.

Charlie Faye Thompson, Sr., 88, husband of Doris Keefe Thompson passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Mr. Thompson was born on September 24, 1934, in Florence County, to the late Dewey Thompson and the late Leona Eaddy Thompson. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Lyde Williams Sunday School Class. Mr. Thompson had a strong work ethic that led him through a 70-year career in the automotive parts industry. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing golf, going to watch the GAMECOCKS play, and most of all spending time with his family. Mr. Thompson will be remembered for his jovial smile and humble spirit. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Doris Keefe Thompson of Georgetown; two children, Charlie Faye “Bobo” Thompson, Jr. (Cindy) of Georgetown and Teressa Thompson Harrington (Kim) of Pawleys Island; two grandchildren, Zachary Harrington of Georgetown and Carter Thompson of Georgetown; one great-grandchild, Prestyn Brown of Georgetown; one brother, Larry Joe Thompson of Bonneau; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vonnie James Thompson and Jimmy Levow Thompson. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Thursday, June 1, 2023, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM Thursday in the church parlor.
