Obituary of Mary Lou Haselden Alger

Mary Lou Haselden Damon Alger, 84, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at her home. Born on July 12, 1938, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Eulis Adline Haselden and the late Eula Mae Wilson Haselden. Mrs. Alger was one of the first female mechanics at International Paper Company and worked in the powerhouse until her retirement. She enjoyed the simpler things in life which included gardening and going to the mountains. Survivors include three children, Cynthia Damon Cribb (Alton, Jr.) of Georgetown, Gary Wade Damon, Jr. of Georgetown, Paul Leonard Damon (Joan) of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Kyndel, Monica, Trey, Katie, Anna, Allen, McKayla and Mary Elizabeth; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Margaret Relyea of CA. She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Damon; and one brother Eulis Haselden. The family will receive friends at 3-5 PM Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Ridgeway Funeral Home.
