Obituary of Darlene Creel Mitchem

Darlene Creel Mitchem, 74, widow of Donald Ray Mitchem, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Born on January 8, 1948, in Hemingway, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Rufus Creel and the late Sarah Mildred Thompson Creel. Mrs. Mitchem was a member Six Mile Crossing Church of God and enjoyed spending her time with her animals, watching birds and reminiscing about past times. Survivors include four children, Bruce Abbott (Sherrelle) of Andrews, Lyn Barber (Mandy) of Andrews, Jennifer Barber of Spartanburg and Austin Mitchem (Taylor) of Andrews; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Creel (Edith) of Spartanburg and CR Creel of Andrews; one sister, Linda Cook of Myrtle Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Garland "Buster" Creel, Elton Creel, Alfred Creel and Henry Creel; and two sisters, Mary Johnson and Thelma Wilson.
