Obituary of Joan Mims McKenzie

Joan Marilyn Mims McKenzie, 82, widow of Carl Roland McKenzie, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2022. Ms. McKenzie was born on May 17, 1940, in Andrews, a daughter of the late John Walker Mims and the late Mellie Etheridge Mims. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Marion. Ms. McKenzie enjoyed gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Survivors include three children, Carlene Roberts (Mark) of Simpsonville, Tony McKenzie (Teresa Dawn) of Latta, and Christine McKenzie of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Sarah Painter (Jake) of Asheville, NC and Zack Roberts (Laura) of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Mellie Pearline Pierce (Ronald) of Andrews; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Walker Dell Creel and a brother-in-law, Elton Creel. Graveside services will be held at 10 AM Thursday, May 26, 2022, in the Piney Forest Cemetery.
