Obituary of Alton Benjamin Wiggins

Alton Benjamin Wiggins, 90, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Embrace Hospice House. Mr. Wiggins was born on May 22, 1931, in Georgetown. He was an US Army veteran and was a retired maintenance analyst, having worked for more than 30 years at International Paper Company. He also worked as a real estate agent. Mr. Wiggins was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon, Sunday school teacher and choir member. Mr. Wiggins had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his yard in his free time. He had a passion for bow hunting and served as the past president of the Winyah Archery Club. Mr. Wiggins was very resourceful and enjoyed working with his hands, especially on his farm. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Betty Kelly Wiggins of Georgetown; a daughter, Ruth Reames (Randy) of Georgetown; a son-in-law, Jim Brock, Jr. of Pawleys Island; two grandchildren, Ashley Reti (Casey) of Columbus, OH and Will Brock of Pawleys Island; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Reti and Henry Reti both of Columbus, OH. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Grace Wiggins Brock. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM on Tuesday at First Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Trail Life, 219 Cleland St. Georgetown, SC 29440.
