Obituary of Charles Wendell Holt

Charles Wendell Holt, 72, husband of Wanda Wallace Holt, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Medical University of South Carolina. Born on July 4, 1949, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Harvey B. Holt and the late Florine Elliott Holt. Mr. Holt was a veteran of the South Carolina National Guard and retired from International Paper Company after 30 years of service. He was a former member of the Omar Shrine Club and enjoyed being on the Black River. As a person full of wit, Mr. Holt was the life of the party and always enjoyed socializing. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; two children, Kevin Holt (Rosie) of Georgetown and Jamie Holt Adams (Seth Hillman) of Georgetown; six grandchildren, Brooke Holt (Chett Barnhill), Will Rogerson, Trace Adams, Troy Holt, Tripp Adams and Emma Holt all of Georgetown; one great grandchild, Eason Barnhill of Georgetown; two brothers, Jimmy Holt (Adrie) of Georgetown and Jerome Holt (Debby) of Murrells Inlet; two sisters, Ruby Fleming of Georgetown and Brenda Coleman (Bill) of Georgetown; one brother in law, Paul Redmond of Murrells Inlet; a fur baby, Sophie; several aunts; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Redmond and Alice Faye Holt; a sister-in-law, Pam Holt; and two brothers in law, Irving Fleming and Teddy Barrineau. A memorial service will be held at 4 PM Monday, February 14, 2022, at Herbert Memorial United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 2 PM – 3:30 PM Monday in the church fellowship hall.
