Obituary of Luther Lenair Altman

Luther Lenair Altman, 87, husband of Marilyn DeWitt Altman, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. Born on September 5, 1934, in Johnsonville, he was a son of the late Dutchman Altman and the late Minnie Lee Altman. Mr. Altman was a United States Air Force veteran and was a member of Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church where he was a former choir member. He retired from International Paper Company after 40 years of service and enjoyed fishing, shrimping, working in his yard, and traveling with his wife. Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; one daughter, Rhonda A. Bornman (Joe) of Myrtle Beach; one grandson, Jerrod Bornman (Denise) of Myrtle Beach; a great grandchild, Jace Bornman; and caregivers, Bertha and Bim Surratt of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by a brother, William G. Altman; and a sister, Mary Agnes Tanner. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Georgetown. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday at Ridgeway Funeral Home in Georgetown.
