Dear Ruby,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Irving. He was a gentle giant among men, and his passing is an irreplaceable loss for you and anyone who had the good fortune to know him. As you know, my family and I had a special connection with Irving, since he and his father had a major part in building my mother and father's home on Britt Street in 1965-66. I will never forget the last time I "visited" with the two of you in the Food Lion parking lot in Maryville last spring. He was the same Irving that I have always known--kind, talkative, down-to-earth, uncompromisingly friendly, and extremely thoughtful and caring for you. I promise to keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead.
