Obituary of Sidney Oswald Springs
Sidney Oswald Springs, 83, husband of Ruth Young Springs, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, at his home.
Born on January 25, 1938, in Williamsburg County, he was the son of the late Ashable Grover Springs and the late Lillie Altman Springs Montgomery. Mr. Springs retired from International Paper Company after more than 30 years of service and served as a Wildlife Nuisance Office for Georgetown County and a hunting guide with Backwoods Quail Club. He had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid deer and turkey hunter. Mr. Springs also enjoyed fishing and trapping and was a member of the Sand Hill Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; three children, Katrina Springs of Maryville, TN, Dale Springs of Georgetown and Kim Van Beek and his favorite son in law, Marlon of Simpsonville; two grandchildren, Sydney Van Beek and Gerrit Van Beek both of Simpsonville; two sisters, Sylvia Springs of Georgetown and Jean Martin of Kingstree; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a stepfather, Issac Montgomery; a son in law, Don Pendley; two sisters, Charles Helen Turner and Madge Eaddy; three brothers, Kedron Springs, Roger Springs and Grover Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Rhems Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in the Antioch Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior the service at the church.
