Obituary of Don Anderson Tanner
Don Anderson Tanner, 78, husband of Carol Harris Tanner, passed away Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Grand Strand Medical Center.
Born on January 24, 1943, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late Don L. Tanner and the late Mildred Ilean Tanner. Mr. Tanner served in the United States Army for several years. He was a real estate broker, a licensed fishing captain and a successful entrepreneur. He was the Dean of the University of Pop.
Mr. Tanner was a member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a talented carpenter and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His quote was, “Remember, take a kid fishing.”
Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years of Georgetown; three children, Kim Andrews (Mike), Beth Cannon (Joey), and Dee Owens (Kevin) all of Georgetown; nine grandchildren, Tanner Andrews, Preston Andrews, Andi Cannon, Kinsey Cannon, Riley Cannon, Kasey Owens (Julie), Konnor Owens Marlar (Evans), Kel Owens, and Kade Owens; three great grandchildren, Karoline Owens, Lawson-Riles Cannon Scott, and Poppi-Grace Elizabeth Scott; three sisters, Carolyn Covington (Eddie), Diane Mock (Harold) and Brenda Oliver (Wayne); one brother, Dan Tanner (Bonnie); a special cousin, J.D. Harrel and Lindy McRae, whom he loved like a son.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Martin (Ray).
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 4572 Rose Hill Road, Georgetown, SC, 29440 with Pastor Frankie Tanner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
