Obituary of C.J. Strickland, Jr.

Channing Allen “CJ” Strickland, Jr., 31, passed away July 22, 2021. Born on April 12, 1990, in Georgetown, he was the son of Channing Allen Strickland, Sr. and Kelly Nicole Hatfield. CJ was a commercial fisherman and enjoyed riding jet skis, SCUBA diving and spending time with his family. He had a great love for Murrells Inlet and fishing and family was his life. Survivors include his mother of Georgetown and father of Murrells Inlet; maternal grandmother, Pat Mincey of Georgetown and maternal grandfather, Gary W. Hatfield of Alcoa, TN ; paternal grandparents, Janice and Bobby Strickland of Murrells Inlet; one sister, Courtney Strickland (Robin) of Rock Hill; one niece, Masyn Strickland of Rock Hill; three uncles, Troy Strickland and Robert Strickland both of Murrells Inlet and Gary Hatfield of Georgetown; four cousins, Hunter Strickland and Teak Strickland both of Murrells Inlet and Aaron Hatfield and Ashley Hatfield both of Knoxville, TN. He was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, H.B. Mincey; and maternal great grandparents; Ruth and Harry Nelson. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
