Obituary of Roy Ervin McConnell, Sr.

Roy Ervin McConnell, 77, widower of Joyce Diane McConnell, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Born on October 13, 1943, in Georgetown, he was a son of the late John Calvin “J.C.” McConnell and the late Frances Elizabeth Walstrom McConnell. Mr. McConnell enjoyed shooting pool, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include four sons, Roy McConnell, Jr., Wayne McConnell, Joseph McConnell (Bridgette) and Scott McConnell (Pam) all of Georgetown; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Barbara Cribb, Phyllis Blankenship (Frank); Diane Rogers (Sammy), Joyce Barnhill, and Donna Kay Shuler (C.L.) all of Georgetown; four brothers, Roland Lambert (Connie), Roger Dale McConnell, Sr. (Paula), Woody McConnell (Darlene) and Bobby “Louie” McConnell (Monica) all of Georgetown; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Harter; four brothers, Johnny McConnell, Henry McConnell, David McConnell and Marvin McConnell; and one sister, Mary Frances McConnell Cohn.
