To the Pope Family: I got to know The Pope Family in the spring of 1958 when My Family moved to Sampit. Rupert, Clara were my age group. I had my brand new drivers license and their parents allowed me to drive their 57 Ford and we would go to church at Sampit Methodist. Rupert-Pope was a good friend as was his family. June will mark my 25th year with the Highway Patrol. Being a District 5 trooper, I always heard stories about “Colonel Alford.” Thanks for sharing the memories. RBP II

Mr. Rupert was the best field trip bus driver ever. When he would drive my students down to Charleston, he always stopped and explained to them the “four corners of law”, He will be missed.
