Obituary of Helen Ruth Porter McRae

Helen Ruth Porter McRae, 83, widow of Paul Jones McRae, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Born on October 11, 1932, in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Mattie Budd Porter. Mrs. McRae was a member of Georgetown First Assembly of God where she was very active in various ministries at the church. She served as a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. Mrs. McRae was retired from the United States Postal Service and enjoyed spending time with her family. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Hayes (Rev. Robert) of Murrells Inlet, Vicki Cribb (Keith) of Georgetown and Robin Bratcher (Walter) of Georgetown; four grandchildren, John Hayes (Rachel) of Myrtle Beach, Lauren Shaw (Scott) of Georgetown, Taylor Bratcher of Georgetown and Brandon Cribb of Georgetown; one great grandchild, Luke Hayes of Myrtle Beach; and three special cousins, Gertrude Chandler of Georgetown, Dorothy Budd of Georgetown and Eunice Weaver of Andrews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin Porter and Lester Porter. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Monday, November 23, 2015 at Georgetown First Assembly of God with Rev. Clifford Coursey and Rev. David Hoskins officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3-5 PM Sunday at Georgetown First Assembly of God.
