Obituary of Emma Clemons Davis
Emma Clemons Davis, 85, widow of Herbert Clyde “Ted” Davis, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2020 at her home.
If hospitality is an art, then Emma was a master artist. It was as much about her attitude as it was her food. Whether it was a holiday dinner or fried chicken, it was always delicious and served with plenty of love and laughter. She had a happy face and the biggest smile. She was joyful, self-deprecating, clever, and quick. She could bake you a caramel cake, cross-stitch you a picture, grow you a flower, beat you at Pac-man, and love you like you’ve never been loved. Her passing is especially poignant because we have lost our Southern matriarch: the one who encouraged us through the darkest times, made Clemons Pond a revered and delightful destination, and without fail could “fix us all up”.
We are so selfishly sad for us, but so heavenly happy for her. Reunited with her beloved parents RB and Louise and her cherished siblings, all 11 of them: Robert, James, Cecil, Carlisle, Jack, Ervin, Suzy, Mary Faye, Bert, Bob, and Sam. But most importantly, she is once again with Ted, the true love of her life and her husband of 53 years. He was her best friend, her biggest fan, her loyal driver, and her faithful companion. She was lost when he passed away, so we know their reunion on Saturday, July 25th was truly divine.
Missing her, but so happy she is once again healthy and reunited with loved ones are her children: Robin Davis Newton (Raymond), Herbie Davis, Susan Davis Lambert (Donnie), and Jill Davis DeShaw (David). Grandchildren: Amber Driggers McBee (Jason), Jared Driggers (Mara), Dustin Lambert (Amanda Voges), Chad Lambert (Laci), Tyler Davis (Josh Dixon), Trevor Davis, Dylan DeShaw, and Emma Cary DeShaw. Great Grandchildren: Davis McBee, Ellie McBee, Graham Driggers, Ana Kate Lambert, Brinnley Lambert, Dekker Lambert, and predeceased by Ean Lambert. Special friends and caregivers: Mina Jean McGee, Tonya Thomas, and Winnie Jordan.
Emma was one of a kind, and we were all so blessed to have been loved by her. In her honor, share a little hospitality and a lot of joy with your family and friends.
