Lane would always find a way that someone was related to him. In reality, he and I were in fact related because my late mother (Linda Cribb Davidson) and him were first cousins. I knew him since I was a little boy and always enjoyed hearing his stories because they would always put a smile on your face.
After I graduated college, served my active duty military time, I transitioned into federal law enforcement out of South Carolina. Lane was always someone I tried to visit with on my visits back home. Like always, Lane would try to fix something if he thought it needed fixed. He was adamant about me getting back home to Georgetown. Only he, could find a way and by golly he did. However, it wasn't the right time for me and my family so we had to turn it down. Going back to Georgetown will not feel the same because I will miss my visits with Lane but I know he'll still be watching over Georgetown.
If his family (Craig, Henry, Kristina, Al, or the GCSO) ever needs anything, like Lane I'll be there for them. I wish I could have been there today.
Your cousin and friend,
Bert Davidson
