Obituary of Gene Dickson

Philip Gene Dickson, 76, husband of Becky Dickson, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019 at his home.

Born on March 23, 1943 in Georgetown, he was the son of the late Philip Marshall Dickson and the late Jennie Cobb Dickson. After serving in the US Coast Guard, Mr. Dickson continued his love for being on the water by establishing one of the first shallow water saltwater guide services in the Georgetown area. He was the owner of Delta Guide Service for more than 55 years and was a member of the Coastal Conservation Association South Carolina. Mr. Dickson also owned Delta Home Builders and Delta Trading Post. He attended Maryville Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a loving and caring man who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Dickson of Georgetown; one son, Philip Michael Dickson of Georgetown; two step children, Dawn Ard (Shane) and Jay Dennis of Surfside Beach; three grandchildren, Bryson Ard, Ryler Dennis and Billy Vezina; one son in law, Bill Vezina of TX; one sister, Lenora Dickson Booth of Crestview, FL; mother in law, Olga Woodward Russ of Georgetown; brothers in law, Jack Woodward (Ana) of Georgetown and Tim Woodward of Pawleys Island; five nephews, Charles Booth, Keith Booth, Stephen Booth, Timothy Woodward, Jr., Brandon Woodward, Cesar Melchor and Josue Melchor; and four nieces, Korre Woodward, Brenda Rojas, Bernice Rojas and Bianca Rojas.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Heather Whittle Vezina; one nephew, David Booth; a brother in law, Jack Booth.

Services will be private.
