Obituary of Erica Wilder Avant

Erica Renee Wilder Avant, 26, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015. Born on August 23, 1989, in Charleston, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Eugene Wilder and Terry Gail Sanderson. Erica was a graduate of Howard High School. She was very artistic and lived life to the fullest. Erica’s greatest accomplishment, that she treasured the most, was being a mother. Survivors include her husband of Georgetown, Derrick Michael Avant; mother of Andrews; maternal grandmother, Barbara Sanderson of Andrews; one brother, William Eugene Wilder of Little River; two sisters, Jessica Wilder of Georgetown and Tina Morris of Myrtle Beach; three aunts, Deborah Cunningham of Florida, Kathy Martin (Tony Matthews) of Georgetown and Susie Rogers (Stanley) of Andrews; one uncle, David Consavage (Bobbie) of PA; three nephews, Brandon, Jacob and Logan; eight nieces, Tressa, Paige, Alyssa, Megan, Haley, Khloe and Peyton; and numerous cousins and other special family members. She was preceded in death by her son, Derrick Michael Avant, Jr.; maternal grandfather, Richard Sanderson; and paternal grandparents, William James Wilder, Jr. and Olna Ogburn Wilder. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Monday, October 5, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Sherrill officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Sunday at First Baptist Church.
