Obituary of Myles Eugene Chassereau

Myles Eugene “Gene” Chassereau, 68, husband of Diane Bass Chassereau, passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Trident Medical Center.

Born on November 26, 1949, in Varnville, SC, he was a son of the late Claude Clifford Chassereau and the late Lillian Crews Chassereau. Gene was a member of Varnville Baptist Church and was retired from Santee Cooper. He was an innovator that enjoyed building and working with his hands. Gene was a Gamecock fan and enjoyed racing, fishing, hunting, spending time on the family farm and working in his yard. As a quiet unassuming man, Gene was always willing to help others and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of Georgetown; three children, Tommy Barfield (Tammy) of Conway, Luke Chassereau of Camden and Ashley Chassereau Parks (Brian) of Charleston; eight grandchildren, Breanna, Hunter, Myles, Alana, Dawson, Lily, Waverly and Bear; one brother, Carl Chassereau of Hampton; a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Chassereau and Larry Chassereau.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Ringel Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12 Noon – 1:30 PM Wednesday at the church.
