Obituary of Floyd B. Deeter
Floyd Baine Deeter, SSG (Ret), 83, husband of Margaret “Peggy” Smiley Deeter, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at Prince George Healthcare Center.
Born on June 29, 1934, in Polk, PA, he was a son of the late Donald M. Deeter and the late Kathryn Greenlee Aley. SSG Deeter was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church and was a United States Marine Veteran and a retired US Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. SSG Deeter received many honors to include the Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Medal. After serving his country, SSG Deeter worked for Anderson Armored Car Service. He enjoyed jogging, antique cars and music, especially southern gospel and country music.
Survivors include: his wife of Georgetown; two children, Sheryl “Sherry” Deeter and Pastor Larry Deeter (Ginny) all of Georgetown; three grandchildren, Pastor Justin Deeter (Kaitlyn) of Wilson, NC, Ian Deeter (Hilary) of Anderson and Shannen Deeter of Columbia; and three great grandchildren, Jude Deeter, Ellie Grace Deeter and Lucy Deeter.
He was preceded in death by his step father, Robert Aley; and one brother, James Deeter.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 PM Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Lakewood Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Deeter officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
