Obituary of Maj. Roy Victor Oberg
Maj. Roy Victor Oberg (Ret), 83, husband of Dale Dearman Oberg, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his home in Pawleys Island.
Born on February 19, 1934, in Portland, OR, he was the son of the late Roy Albert Oberg and the late Katherine Willson Oberg. Maj. Oberg retired from the US Army, having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. After his military career, he began working for Raytheon where he retired after more than 15 years of service. Maj. Oberg was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Pawleys Island Plantation Men’s Golf Club. He was a numismatist and enjoyed working in the yard, playing golf and fixing things.
Survivors include his wife of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Laura Ellen Oberg of San Antonio, TX; step daughter, Deborah Anne Govea (Kevin) of New Braunfels, TX; and four grandchildren, David Oberg, Chrissie Oberg, David Govea and Mark Govea.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Alan Oberg.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at their home.
