Obituary of Mackie Gordan Altman III
Mackie Gordon Altman, III, 41, husband of Summer Knight Altman, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2015 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Born on July 19, 1973, in Georgetown, he was the son of Mackie Gordon Altman, Jr. and Harriett “Dolly” Mary Weaver Altman. Mackie was a member of Belin United Methodist Church, was a Para-educator with special education at Waccamaw High School and was pursuing a degree in special education through Western Governor University.
Mackie enjoyed coaching golf with Area 9 Special Olympics and helping anyone. He enjoyed camping, traveling, hiking, music and kayaking. Mackie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and lived life to the fullest. He always had a smile on his face and never hesitated to tell you, “I love you”. He was a loving husband and devoted father that will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife and parents of Pawleys Island; two children, Anna Louise Altman and Henry James Altman both of Pawleys Island; one sister, Donna Altman and her husband Brian Seley of Pawleys Island; one nephew, Cody Watson; one great nephew, Noah Watson; mother and father in law, Norman and Yvonne Knight of Murrells Inlet; one brother in law, Lee Knight of St. Matthews; and a numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Eileen and Bill Weaver; and paternal grandparents, Mackie, Sr. and Mildred Altman.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 29, 2015 at Belin United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Mike Alexander and Rev. Scott Johnson officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service.
